I'm trying to find out which sax brand this tenor is; any one?
Do you know what else needs doing? If it’s a horn with no brand markings it’s worth very little even if it plays. If it needs work then that is likely to be more than the value of the horn.Thank you Stephen Howard and LostCircuits!
To start with, I want to find out which brand and type it is – so that I can consider whether investments are worthwhile.
Sounds about right - quite a good price actually. But a dent in one part of the sax is not the same as a dent in another.MeridianWinds fixed this one for $70 (plus $20 shipping cost) and they did a perfect job.
Walk away.@LostCircuits
According to the woman selling it, she cannot find a serial no. or brand name.
(But it seems like she doesn't feel like really trying her best, also when it comes to taking photos)
I suggest you don’t pay more than €50, at least you can make a nice lamp from it.Do you know what else needs doing? If it’s a horn with no brand markings it’s worth very little even if it plays. If it needs work then that is likely to be more than the value of the horn.
This wasn't a dent, the previous owner had dropped the horn and the neck was bent over backwards. Then he bent it back, sort of. It was pretty ugly. Music Medic refused to work on it, as did J.L. Smith. Meridian had to unsolder the brace, then "straighten" the neck and making sure it was "back in round". But these guys are really good!Sounds about right - quite a good price actually.
