Paint and cleanup / detail the edges with hard cotton swabs. Sounds easy……

Yeah tha guy Matt makes it look easy.
Anyone remember your first experience cooking bacon crispy while still in the frying pan !

He used nail varnish. Even the pig looks dubious about the Humbrol. Back to the thinners. That’s going to take a lot of T shirts to get off.

The above gone wrong example was intentional. Understanding the tools and materials is often not realized by many.
I start by removing the key. Then polish / clean the part.

Next I lightly scuff the floor of area. A little tooth allows the paint to bond better.

Lastly the area is degreased with acetone.

The enamel paint straight from the container has the consistency of thick water.
If anyone didn’t notice. There is thinner pictured next to the paint in post one.

The paint instructions indicate thinning is necessary. This alters the hydrophilic / hydrophobic characteristic of the paint. If the viscosity is too thick the paint will flow up the edges. Too thin and you’ll ruin the pigment to vehicle ratio. Essentially the paint will separate on the surface.

This 5mm cup contains one drop. Thinner added until the material wets out on a sheet of glass to my liking.

Time to paint, but with what tool? The area has fine detail. Two large a instrument will not allow good control.

I have had consistent success with toothpicks. I shave the tip as long and fine as possible.

If you’re holding the part in a bench vise be kind. I cover the surfaces and place a little cardboard for some clamping protection. Index the part where the image is as horizontal as possible.
Add a little paint to the toothpick and work from the middle out of the image area. Each time I clean the tip on the tissue. That ensures a consistent volume of paint flow at each dunk of the toothpick.

You know, when I was a little boy I thought they were saying

"Liar, liar, pacifier!"

But I still think the line in "FM" ought to be

"Nothing but booze and Elvis
And somebody else's
Favorite song..."

We use one of these, for Porky, at the house in Key Largo.
The regular grill is used for, the catch of the day, from one of our group, that runs Garcias, on the Miami River.
Last time it was a 15lb Red Snapper.
Churrasco and Hot Dogs might happen.
Then Dominos.
Fun family.
