Great Combo... DPA4099s sound fantastic and are ridiculously feedback resistant

True. The way I see it, though, is that if I'm spending a minimum of £750 for a mic set-up then I want the best gear for my money - especially when you have to spend so much just to get the same sound quality as a £50 secondhand SM58 just because you don't want to be tied to a cable.

As fas as I can tell, this combination is the best mixture of sound quality, reliability and cost.

Audio Technica 10 systems seem to work particularly well with DPA mics. I remember trying these & the AKG equivalent as an A/B test at work- the Audio Technica rig gave a noticably better sound quality

I haven't done a side by side comparison, but I have no complaints using a Line 6 transmitter and receiver... Very reliable, easy to set up, reassuringly expensive, six channels, I've never lost signal, neither have I picked up Z-Cars

The thing you need to watch for, @Veggie Dave, if you don't already know, but you probably do, is the mic comes ready to fit a wired XLR cable, but needs an extra adaptor, costing extra squids, to plug into (some/all) transmitters

And not just a few squids either. Those adapters are outrageously over-priced!
