SOTM SOTM January 2018 - Softly as in a Morning Sunrise

Hello,

I like the very laid back version of rhysonsax very much.

Here is my first take on the song, recorded with a youtube backing track. First contribution to the forum after my brief introduction . I struggle a bit with the chord changes, hope to improve this in a next version.

Your link isn't working for me 🙁

Is it set to public?

I did this tune for SOTW back in November 2015.

Hope to do a fresh one next year!

Here is the 'fresh' recording, done on a modern Otto Link HR New Vintage Slant Tone Edge 7* and a brand new and very resistant La Voz medium reed (hence I used the 7* mouthpiece). The backing is a free one from YouTube without piano:

Hi all

Great tune. couldn't get the link with the longer backing track to work, so this is just once round the tune with no soloing (you'll be glad to hear).

Usually I'd do this laid back stuff on my berg, but thought I'd challenge myself by attempting a one take wonder trying to play soft and smoochy on my guardala instead! Still not convinced I've found the best combo for mic placement, recording levels, but these SOTMs are a good excuse for me to experiment with that.
