Yes, it helps to structure the backing track, but works equally well as a line to play on the sax, or other instrument if you're making your own backing.

PS Anyone can download and use the funky backing track I made. It will work with the sheet music provided in the first post of this thread, but note that there are eight bars before the tune starts (rather than nine in the sheet music).

Well, it was either post the Jimmy Nail version of this tune or get back on the recording gear to give it another go.

I've recently purchased BIAB, so it's an opportunity to have a play around with it. I made a Key change, dusted off the pipes and added some supporting sax lines.

Other than all my Sax solos seem to sound the same, it was an enjoyable couple of hours.

Thanks to those who've posted so far....There's still time to add your versions 🙂

Well, I've played gigs where fewer people have turned out. But at those times it makes you appreciate the ones that did come along even more (and at least in a friendly online thread I didn't have to deal with that psychotic looking bloke in the corner staring at me after I declined his third request to play 'The Boys Are Back In Town'!)

So, thanks to those who gave it a go Thanks also to @nigeld for putting the backing track together.

As ever, the doors will remain open , and unlike the Rose Royce household, love will live on in this thread....😉

2:29 on I thought it really came alive, for me that is the nicest line I have heard so far on my limited time hear on the cafe, very original, engaging, and in the groove, cool line, (imo) ...
