Beginner Saxes Purchasing a Pro Horn as a Beginner

FWIW, I played a Serie III for several years when they first came out. I used mine in everything including swing bands, contemporary big band, an Aretha Franklin tribute show, and a classical quartet.
Not arguing that the Series III cannot be used for anything; in fact I don't believe such a thing with saxophones. However, when I played mostly alto, I owned both a Series II and III for while and the Series II ended up staying and Series III was sold. I thought it was just me, but it appears to be a more generally held notion.

A 6 hour drive each way is worth it - I dare say you've spent more time thinking about it and discussing it on and off this forum.

In trying the 875EX you've also learned a valuable lesson in what you like and don't like - Personally, I find it easy to find things that you don't like to make the elimination progress easier.

As others have said, you can adjust the action and feel of saxophones to a point, typically more so on a pro horn (but it varies), a good pro setup is very important on a top level horn.

I actually bought my Lexus new 6 months ago. Thats another story but I tried 6 different cars before I found a car I loved
Gotta say one thing I miss in the US is the Lexus I drove. Its the only car I ever enjoyed driving. I did not buy it new but it was sweeeet!

Buy one in France? Fuel's expensive there, but you can get hybrid models which are fairly frugal and very fast.

I once did a six hour drive (each way) to pick up a nice TH&C tenor. I didn’t even try it (I knew the seller and the history of the horn) - met with the guy and his wife, chatted a while, then turned around and drove off into the sunset.

At 6 hours drive time to St Louis you may find it less expensive to fly. I would definitely make arrangements with those two stores. Make sure they have what you need in stock and reserve time to service you. There are a lot of nice instruments in your price range. Be patient and explore every option. FWIW I prefer heavy spring tension. better sense of feel at the fingertips.

Search results are often conditioned by previous searches and shopping.
Yeah but I`ve never bought a weird Pixie like creature before 😵

Only if you are foolish enough to allow yourself to be 'traceable'.
Though my previous search was for 'the ten most popular presents for Thanksgiving'.
Well, you have foolishly given away your location in your signature for everyone to see, which is 1480 light years away in the constellation Cygnus.

To circle back around, after getting to try a few including the Series III I ended up with a Gently Used Yamaha yas-62III that came with the 62 and custom V1 neck for half the price of the Custom EX
Excellent choice ! What are your thoughts on selmer ?

Oh yes, the alto and tenor Serie III are separate kettles of fish. I, too, prefer the Serie II alto. Don’t judge the tenors on your experience with the altos and vice versa.
