BOTM June BOTM 'Easy Living'

My computer wont open the rar. file BT. It runs OSX 10.6. Tried getting Winzip but it requires 10.7. BTW, I hope this doesn't sound as if I know much about 'puters! What can I do / are there good alternative BTs I can find?
Unpacked ok on my OS X - you could try The Unarchiver free on App store

Edit - sorry Mark did't see your post 🙂

OK so not Stan but his younger untalented distant cousin Bert Getz.

Just one chorus this time to prove to myself I haven't forgotten where the keys are....

Hopefully more to come later in the month

Good job keeping up with the changes and the somewhat ununsual melody line :thumb: - not easy if you don't know the tune very well. Definitely progressing onwards and upwards!! 🙂

You're improving Mark/ Bert. Try swaying slightly while you play, as if you were dancing in time to the rhythm section. It's a smoochy tempo. Swaying twice to the bar would make it sound a bit more relaxed and sensual. That last sentence could be seriously misinterpreted!
Ronnie Scott used to say he fancied putting a band together featuring Stan Getz and violinist Stuff Smith, then he could say "Ladies and gentlemen, Getz Stuff" (ed)!!
Best wishes for Mrs. L's recovery,
Warb

The second chord on the printed sheet is Dim7 but on BiaB it's Dim. The Bb version G#dim7 is the harmony chord but the melody line has a held F. Same with the second bar, Bbdim7 melody line E G. Shouldn't these be Dim not Dim7? Or am I missing something?
I agree, surely not a half diminished.
It has the same first five chords as a commonly used substitution for I Got Rhythm.
Nice chromatic line through the first two and a half bars: G,G#,A,A#, B.

two really terrific versions Rhys - I really did like the 2nd version a lot- wasn't expecting anything like that at all - really me made me smile.:thumb:

I also love Wardell Gray's tenor playing - much under rated player:mrcool, and quite an interesting life story.:verysad

This is a really nice ballad, but I am finding it a challenge to play in concert Ab, which seems to be a common key for female vocal versions and tenor sax versions.

I have done two tenor versions, firstly sort of using a transcription of Wardell Gray's solo:

And secondly using a karaoke track based on Billie Holiday's recording:

Rhys
Liked both versions but prefer the 2nd as well...
cheers,
Marcello
