Chris asked me to host this month's BOTM, so my choice is a ballad 'easy living'

here's Mr Desmond

and Ella

and on tenor Wardell Grey

and of course there's lots more versions on youtube and spotify.

Here's the Eb, Bb lead sheets and backing track.

If anyone wants lead sheet in concert, just let me know - should anyone want to do a C Melody version!!

Looking forward to hearing some great versions.

Enjoy!

Same playback as @jimmylh 🙂
I admit I am taking every opportunity to present my new horn which I am very proud of.
Finally. I am not doing anything different, but it seems now it sounds the way I'd like it to sound (almost 🙂)
I am not very familiar with the song, but the melody is very nice, and I will take another chance when I will go to Germany to get the second horn I have bought home (50xxx SBA).
Thanks for listening!

Two really nice laid back tenor versions from Jimmy and Guenne, 😎 using the Hal Leonard BT, which is Eb concert.

The realbook is F concert, so if anyone wants the sheets and BT that i did in a different key, just give me a buzz, and I'll get it organised.🙂

I know Art Pepper transformed himself later in life but I didn't realise he had become Frank Morgan.

I'm having a look for the first time at this piece. The first bar is causing me problems. The second chord on the printed sheet is Dim7 but on BiaB it's Dim. The Bb version G#dim7 is the harmony chord but the melody line has a held F. Same with the second bar, Bbdim7 melody line E G. Shouldn't these be Dim not Dim7? Or am I missing something?

As far as I know G dim and G dim7 are more or less the same 4 note chords G Bb Db and E. I think that G dim is strictly speaking just a 3 note chord.

Also these dim chords can be thought of as dominant 7th 9b chords resolving to the minor chords. So you can think of the chords as Gmaj7, E79b, Am7 ,
F#79b, G/B etc.

You can in fact just play the first 4 bars in G and it will sound OK - just think of the dim chords as passing chords/tones...

Some great takes already
This one I did a few months back, will do a new one when I have a chance

Lovely! Your sound always has me picturing you sitting in a big band from the 40's. I mean that as a compliment. I guess it's your vibrato, which I really like. I don't know if you are a professional, but you sure sound like one.
