Man this is a tough tune. Not come across it before. It seems to suit tenor more than alto. I can't make any of them sing today. Tried baritone too. No not today lol.

As far as I know G dim and G dim7 are more or less the same 4 note chords G Bb Db and E. I think that G dim is strictly speaking just a 3 note chord.

Also these dim chords can be thought of as dominant 7th 9b chords resolving to the minor chords. So you can think of the chords as Gmaj7, E79b, Am7 ,
F#79b, G/B etc.

You can in fact just play the first 4 bars in G and it will sound OK - just think of the dim chords as passing chords/tones...

I'm getting confused. My limited theory is.. well.. limited. I thought a dim7 was a half diminished. What we call a m7b5 and a dim was a four note chord. I should get the book out. lol

Just googled it. Wiki has it. Dim is three notes. Dim7 is four notes. I could have saved a lot of typing by doing that first DoH!

I actually have played this in concert F a few times, and so decided to take it down to Eb. Sometimes a key change forces you to play something different.

Glad a lot of folks are liking this tune...
maybe we can get a few more stars of the cafe to post a version or two!

I admit I am taking every opportunity to present my new horn which I am very proud of.
Finally. I am not doing anything different, but it seems now it sounds the way I'd like it to sound (almost 🙂)
I am not very familiar with the song, but the melody is very nice, and I will take another chance when I will go to Germany to get the second horn I have bought home (50xxx SBA).

My wife is in the very early stages of recovery from a hip replacement so I have been missing from the practice room for several weeks. Today I plan to get back to work and this is going to be my first assignment.
OK so it still will not be as smooth as Getz but hope it Getz better as I go along.

I thought it was copping out to go for Eb but most of the alto clips are in Eb. There's a certain something in Eb that doesn't happen in F, on alto that is. It suits tenor in F. So after much reed adjustment we have...

I find it doesn't sit well on alto in F. Too high or too low. The jump from F#2 to E3 takes some doing to make it sound easy. Dropping to E2 to palm D3 sounds easier.

My computer wont open the rar. file BT. It runs OSX 10.6. Tried getting Winzip but it requires 10.7. BTW, I hope this doesn't sound as if I know much about 'puters! What can I do / are there good alternative BTs I can find?
