Cubase Score Editor is Rubbish!

How does the score editor compare with something like Sibelius?

I'm quite fond of Sibelius, and of Cubase; just wish the two were integrated with one another.

Logic's score editor needs a lot more learning than Sibelius. I wouldn't say it's as good for some features, possibly better for others depending on your requirements.

The great thing for me is that I need to have my score editor completely integrated with sequencer/DAW so Sibelius is not an option, I'd be constantly going back and forward between Logic and Sibelius if I didn't use the Logic score.

There are rumours however that it is being upgraded very extensively for the next major version of Logic which is in the pipeline and possible released quite soon.

I might have a look at it, if I ever earn enough money from this music malarky to buy such things.

I use cubase all the time for sequencing. It's what works best for me though I never use their score editor.

i actually use finale but that's because I got it for free. Though it's rubbish for jazz as you can only make triplets no duplets in 12/8 (unless I haven't found them) and stuff and most certainly no quintuplets etc.

I'm hoping to get a copy of Sibelius from school since they've just installed a load of them. Is there any notation software that is compatible with cubase?

On a different note, Cubase 4 has a rather good notation device... But not for entering via the notation input!

The notation works fine if you play something in through a midi interface and quantise it to take out any timing errors. Though for professional use it's not up to it.

It's still best to use some proper software for notation if that's your main need. For me I use cubase for it's sequencing and if I need a notation print out the exam board excepts a screen dump of the 'step input'.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
