Mouthpieces Bought the wrong mouthpiece

Good luck with the mouthpiece. I just wanted to say I like the music; I checked out your band's web site.

Hi Mike,
Glad you liked our music Mike - just bog standard 50s really, we're not the brains of Britain, but we do have a lot of fun. As long as the dance floor is full nobody worries too much about a bum note here and there....
Best regards - Inge

well , we've all been there and done that, even if you'd tested it beforehand you wouldn't have know how you would have liked the mouthpiece after a while....and, as it happens , sometimes one gets enthusiastic about a mouthpiece or even a horn but , when the novelty has worn off, you discover that you don't really like it all that much.....so it is always good practice to keep things for a while in order to be able to make a reasoned choice and not an impulsive one.

Good luck with your next choice! 😉

Yes Milandro, you're dead right. A very chastened small me will be crawling back to the devil I know, i.e. my beloved old Lawton 7*.
Have learned to "be careful what you wish for" .....
Best wishes - Inge

Same as MikeC I checked out your site too ... love that stuff, although it's fifty-or-so years since I last did anything like it in a band. Quality sound!
(I know absolutely nothing about MPs so won't attempt to contribute on that front!)

Looks like you and me both know nothing about mouthpieces - except that I had to prove it ! Am rectifying the situation. Glad you like the 50s "thing" on our website. But it gets lonely being the only sax player. Nobody to compare notes (pun intended) with. Miss the big bands. There's nothing like the buzz you get from playing in a 5-man (or woman) sax section with a wall of 6 brass behind you blasting out sheer excitement. So sad that those days have gone.
Best wishes - Inge

Used to play sackbut and can still remember the glisses in One O'Clock Jump. We sat at the front to stop us attacking the reeds with our slides and sorry but what was that you said?

If the only problem with your 7* is that the ligature/reed clam thing is broken, you can still get them as spares from Bill Lewington (that's on-line, not the old shop with the snotty staff).

A bit pricey, but probably worth it - I think they're better than any other sort of ligature.

The only question I have is, having had my Lawton for over 25 years, how the hell did you break yours?

Jon
