Accessories What's cork grease for?

To lubricate the passage of the mouthpiece on to the sax neck, to allow it to rotate to a comfortable playing position, and slide easily to it's tuning position.

I've had my bari neck re-corked and have to use cork grease every time I play.

Is your mouthpiece loose?

Cork grease is often useful if you mess up that well rehearsed solo that makes the band look really good and they decide that your horn should no longer see the light of day.... (You may require a rather large quantity   )

Cork grease is a good way of stopping the cork ripping away from the crook when removing a too-tight mouthpiece, as well as being an aid to rotating the mpc when it's on. Plus of course, it smells lovely, especially the Selmer brand.

Selmer cork grease is indeed great and also smells lovely. Pity it costs ?95 and comes in a cardboard box full of polysterene though.

Satire dead? Pah!

Obviously Peter buys his cork grease in bulk (95 quid?) - 44 gallon drum of the stuff. A life time supply?

It's refreshing to realise it's not just (some of) our American cousins to whom irony is a lost art, and no - it isn't a place where Ironians live! >:)

Greg, Swallow your medicants, it wasn't just ANZAC lads that were irradiated, the British conscripts were also given a dose which is what the white guys also gave the Maoris. >:)
The only good thing to come out of this era was a popular song that enquired, "Would you like to spend Christmas on Christmas Island?".
Now if they'd have covered the bomb in Selmer Cork Grease, must be Mark Vl of course, none of this would have happened.

Sorry Pete, this Mac transmits double clicks so quick it even defeats doubled message protection systems.
Please remove. And the previous post should you wish as it is partly political.

the French have no idea about the environment - they spent over 30 years trying to f**k up the South Pacific with their nuclear testing, and if the company is Selmer (USA) - well the Yanks (most of) have never had any idea about the environment - just buy another Hummer. A great example of arrogance and ignorance going hand in hand...don't let me get started with you Poms with nuclear testing in the Pacific in the 1950s (Christmas Island ring any bells?), exposing New Zealand sailors and service people to the fall-out. It appears the only mental exercise some people get around here is jumping to conclusions. 😡

Thank you.

Greg Strange.

Hi Greg,

To be fair, I don't suppose 80,000,000 imported sheep and cows munching their way through the local flora, displacing the indiginous species and farting methane into our atmosphere is too good for your environment either!
Anyway - Jumping to conclusions is the ONLY excercise I get - I shall be going for gold in the 2012 Olympics.

Ah, indeed - but what is anything 'for'?

Ultimately all human effort is futile and turns to dust . . .
