Saxophone beginners What is your favourite music piece to play on Sax?

Working on Cantabile - Vivaldi and Summertime at the moment, plus Jazz & Blues riffs & licks (somewhat unsuccessfully)
but would like to be able to play Take five & In the mood
so much I want to do & so little time....

Trying to get the blues group to play "Harlem Nocturne" gits in Cm and they either don't like it or can't think in that key😀😀
Anyway have a site that has 42 versions of "Harlem Nocturne" and I like the one by "Illinois Jacquet" .

Yes Richard, Harlem Nocturne is also one of my favorites.

It's just so ebulient!

It is so flexible. You can breathe, pause, accent, play through/stretch, etc wherever you like almost.

Most likely I shouldn't post this here! but thought some would be interested in this Elementary School Band in Japan. Children are likely about 7. I know they have different work ethics in Japan, but it is really lovely to see children playing their hearts out and one can only imagine the fun they will have with music when they get older.
Hope you enjoy this even though some might never play this kind of concert band music.🙂

Sorry to hijack the thread but i am VERY new to the Sax (only 4 days in), and would quite like to learn the Pink Panther and Summertime.
Can anyone tell me if there is a 'for dummies' version i can look at and learn from (possibly showing which keys to press rather than just the notes)?

Perhaps we should have a tune (one of Petes maybe) that can become the site anthem.

It needs to have easy parts and more difficult parts so anyone can join in

I like the idea of that. We could all learn a part and then have a get-together.

We could even do what some 580-odd drummers did last July - they all practiced a little riff, then got together in Birmingham to set a world record for the most drummers drumming at the same time - and raised a serious amount of dosh for MS at the same time. Quite a few celebs joined in too. The Americans tried - and failed miserably - to beat it (sorry for the pun).

My bloke's in that video somewhere, as well.

What about it? The biggest saxophone choir in the world, with our Pete and a few of his mates up front?

Edit: Just had a quick look - the current record is something in the region of 1000. Surely there are way more than that in the UK alone?

One of my favourites is Ain't Misbehavin'. I also keep going back to Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered, My Funny Valentine, and Have you Met Miss Jones as well as anything Gershwin.

I can play Angel eyes now by heart so love that also like
I remember Clifford, Round midnight, Harlem Nocturne, Boulevard of broken dreams, Opus Funk.
A nice Jazz ballad i really like playing is, You don't know what love is and finally i am waiting to get Blues in the night.
