I sorta hear a backing track there maybe, but again...back to previous comments on other threads...please turn up the backing track volume significantly. Hard to offer much comment without the anchor of the track being audible...

....other than your tone sounds nice, intonation is decent, phrasing is pretty good it seems

I made this with a full backing track, light compression on the sax, and slight reverb added. I also positioned my mics better. If anyone is interested in using my backing tracks, I would be willing to share them! I used Logic to output this, taking advantage of the virtual drummer and ability to humanize the midi notes. iReal Pro helped with making the chords for the verse.

If that's a bit of a Latinish, backing track, you might try playing more Latin/Salsa tunes.
Clave is important, but more so, is leaning to move your body in a three step.

You can also go with generating your own backing tracks using something like Band-in-a-Box or iReal Pro. There was one time I uploaded a song to Soundcloud, it got taken down because of the backing track, so I just replaced it with my own generated one.

If you made your recording in a DAW, should be relatively straightforward to just delete the offending track and inserting a new one.

For me, this is far your best recording so far!
Why? Because ...
- you play the melody well (with no extended improvisations)
- your sense of timing is good, with some variations but all well within the range that vocalists often use
- around 1.38 - 1.45 you play one or two really well-chosen lower notes that I don't hear on original (well-known) recordings

It's often said that "how you play is much more important than what you play". And this recording is a good example. By just playing the basic melody (ballad) listeners are able to hear how you play.

With the great benefit that the longer notes in this melody are arranged to carry through the chord changes. So by playing the melody 'straight' you're making full use of the wonderful arrangement of melody and chords.

By Irving Berlin (1941.) Some timing errors but I'm glad I worked on this. I am testing a Royer R10 mic (mixed with a AKG C414 XLII.) No EQ or compression on the instrument tracks and just a little reverb! The Royer seems to add texture/warmth/midrange.

Also I was experimenting with Logic's Session Player track on this. There are two 'bass players' and the left one (the session player track) improvises throughout.
