Entering my 3rd week on saxophone playing I wanted to inform you all about what has been going on.
I have practised all of my minor scales ( some I can only play at 80bpm and 1 octave some 250bpm 2 octaves) and some of the minor blues scales.
With Colin`s advice I started to practise my diatonic arpeggios and got it to 150bpm untill Amajor(following the circle of fifths so it is my 4th scale) worked them both ways up only and up and down together which I must admit I feel improved my playing a lot.
Another thing I have done on @Colin the Bear `s advice is the chromatic scale now I can do it at 200bpm of 2 octaves which really makes me happy and thanks for all that advice Colin.
In the mean time I have learnt growling(with humming) and funny enough it didnt take me too much practise and now I can turn it on or off whenever I want and that was a big step for my own joy of playing.
Started practising my vibrato also but most of the time it is still very fast and very amateur sounding but it should improve with the practises from taming the saxophone.
Another great thing I started practising yesterday is blues licks found this awesome fella playing a few of them on youtube and it made wonders on my blues improv!!

I have learnt all the notes from low B to high F# (f# and B doesnt always work out but will practise on that)
Things I havent done that I believe I should:
Havent really been playing many songs in the mean time though apart from the odd little melodies of tequila, fly me to the moon, aint no sunshine and I shot the sheriff. I should do more songs.
Long note practises I have been avoiding a little bit and I feel ashamed of that but I will be practising that this week.
havent really been working on keeping my fingers under control when they are not being used but I am not entirely sure if that is necessary after watching paul desmond(who is my sax hero) play.
My triplets check list is almost empty apart from the C major that is something I should really work on.
Things I want to try this week:
Just out of curiosity I want to try to get an altissimo fingering under my fingers may be the A it could be I know I am very amateur for that but I wonder if I can do it.
I want to understand what this whole singing notes mean and how they work
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k6TMxNASFQ
she talks about them on this interview the slight movement of her notes is what she means I think.
Also the note bending is another thing I want to try and I think the singing notes and bending are related with vibrato, are they?
So I wanted to keep a diary of my progress and I thought "hey why not share this with the residents of the cafe" I know many of you will be lazy to read this and sure I understand that I would probably be lazy to read a complete beginners diary myself but it is here if you are interested in that kind of thing.
If you actually came this far reading this and thought you have some comments about it or criticism or things that you want to add feel free 🙂
