Heres a very restrained version I done a few weeks back for my website so I kept it very simple

Heres a run through on my sop. Using it a lot this week to really settle on my SR Tech Pro I got off our Ian. I'm starting to love its singing vibe. Only using my back up tenor for my gigs as its leaking like a mother, arghhhhhhh till my new horn comes, hey have i mentioned i'm getting a new tenor !!!!!!!! lolssss. Kept this quick take very bluesy as it should be, enjoy

Me also. The last mp I had was a rico sop metalite, ok but was always in the way. The SR tech feels like its not there which is the key thing. Finding a good mp = total freedom, forgetting about that lump in your mouth, letting you just think/hear the music. Of the many mant sop mps I've had and most were good this is already the best for me I've had. Its my sop piece for good now. Yes I said. I know this is the 1, its that easy a blower/player. Saying that I still have to try a PPT soprano piece my tenor PPT's have stopped me looking at other tenor pieces which has never happened, ever :shocked: there that good for me and I had the power PPT baritone mp which again was fantastic. I think if I had the SR Tech and a PPT soprano mp I would be a very happy chappy so tenor/sop would be sorted .

@Davey- really glad you enjoy that SR, you are getting a nice sound on it, i loved it too but just needed a wider sop piece, if only it was more open then i would of kept it.

here is my version of Georgia, i opted for a smoother approach and played with timing and range of the tenor saxophone to give it a lift.
I enjoyed doing this tune in this style which is a kind of cross over to my regular jazz or funk style i like to play and gig on.

@Iansaxman,,, yea very smooth jazz vain indeed and that backing track is sweet.I will be getting that for my solo work. Very nice version dude. The best recording from you yet for me. No rushing, just enough of everthing so to speak.

cheers fella, glad you like that version, i have done lots of recordings and gigs on this style around the E.U. recently, i seem to get them gigs and i like the relaxed style, not always needing to throw the technical head on.
i will mail you the backing, saves you buying it.

to the rescue again dude. Yea in the end we get more work with this stuff. I love it, many hard core jazz snobs don't. How can ya not like it with Sanborn.Whalum, Maceo Parker, Albright etc etc. Enjoyed yours a lot.

While there are some very good versions being posted. The thread seems to be developing a showcase type feel. Perhaps if the more experienced guys want to chip in and explain what they played and how they approach tunes like this it might pull things round a little. It would help guys that are still learning about improv to get there head around things better..

Explanation is coming later today, not intended at all as a showcase, just to highlight what can be done using timing and dynamics in my version, just have a few things to do first at home, chopping wood, shopping, you know the regular life stuff 🙂 will detail idea's later.
