Jollysun.

Lads, lads, lads, Oh you faithless lot. I have the utmost belief in human nature. Of course they will, if they respond, send an example that is un-tweaked and ready for a fair assessment and I think it's only right and proper to give them the benefit of the doubt and a fair hearing!!
I don't want one of each colour but if thay want to send me an Alto and a curved Soprano I'll deal with in a very fair and unbiased way!!

No tech would want to touch it, I had a Jollysun (and I should know better)for about a week, I took it to a tech over at Stratford-on-Avon who told me it was so crap, she could do nothing with it.

The posts were so poorly aligned the the rods had up to 5mm play in them making adjustment virtually impossible. The pad alignment was pathetic, no attempt had been made to seat them, neither could they be seated due to the gross miss-positioning of the cups and barrels.

I'm really embarrassed to say I had one, I couldn't even get a single octave scale out of it.

PaulyT why don't you request the full family (quartet) they (Jade City Industries in the UAE are fencing the rubbish from China via individuals to purchase and sell on). I only hope Robert88 and Clare19 dont have a load of these in their garage. Can you imagine having purchased a bulk order of these instruments (use that term lightly) only to suffer the backlash from this forum!

But for someone who's just learning for a bit of fun and (at least in the near future) is unlikely to do much beyong playing to backing tracks at home, laying out 3 or 4 times that for a "proper" sax is quite a big deal if there may be no need to spend that much.

Hi
was just browsing through the threads and came upon you and thought maybe can exchange notes, as I also am only playing for fun, with tutor books, music books, playaong CD's, backing tracks. Would nice to play with someone else for a change. There must be lots of other musicians in your and my areas doing the same thing. It would be nice to get together with a few of them. Need to find a suitable venue in my case though. (see winding up the neighbours)
I don't know if you have a teacher. I am going to one tomorrow, although I feel I'm progressing ok on my own, but I figure by going to a teacher, it might lead to meeting other sax players, which could lead to doors opening.
A book and CD I like is a Beatles playalong and backing tracks, much more fun than the "tune a day" tutor books, and you can play the sort of music you like.
I would be interested to hear your views

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
