Great site Altissimo......a very concise history of Martin and many other famous vintage saxophones. Thank you
I had three Italian motorbikes, my friends and brother many more. My wife is half Italian. And I have an Italian sax. The stereotype is right, as far as it goes. But it misses flair, individuality and sheer bloody mindedness.Another stereotype: flaws, imperfections and deviant solutions, but it works great.
I kind of agree.
http://www.ilsaxofono.it/dati/catalogograssi.pdfDon't recognise that one - I'll have to check out MMM's review.

These aren't mine, just photos I found (actually they're both for sale) so I've no idea - haven't played any Grassi altos, although I have toyed with the idea of a Professional 2000 Alto - They're in plentiful supply from £350 up if you know where to look. I have a choice of two mint ones for £500 each as I type! How does the red blooded Italian Grassi Alto compare to the SDA ? , it doesn`t look the same quality
Cheers MontyMac, thats what I want to see "Made in Italy" !!!!!!MMM, Just in case you want to update the article, here's the company logo from the 1975 catalog.
