Driving Test

Thanks

yes it is harder nowadays (well, so I have been told by my instructor).

Twas my second attempt... although on my first attempt my instructor messed up and picked me up late and so I got to the test center late and didn't get to practice.... therefore I don't count it 😉

Congratulations 🙂

I took and passed mine in 1958 😱
I was very lucky to have a lovely examiner who recognised that I was, despite the nerves, a competent driver.... he even told me how to reverse around a sharply downhill corner, which I'd never had to do before!
And all that after one ten-minute lesson from my brother...but *lots* of practice 😉

The funny part of the story(although looking back on it, it was pretty irresponsible) was that my gf, whose car it was, was working, so I took off the L-plates, drove 22 miles to Ipswich, put 'em on, took the test, then removed 'em again and drove back 8|
(Of course the roads were much quieter then!).

Well done and don't forget a drink for the trainer. 🙂
Spent thirty years as an ADI and used to train to police advanced standard, so would like to say a few words for the examiners. Virtually all are good guys, after all there are even nasties amongst saxophonists.
It was considered normal, by training staff, for passing traffic policeman to have an accident or a near one, within six weeks. It was usually down to two things, either fixedly looking well ahead and forgetting that things do change in the near and medium ground or thinking they were good.
Best advice is that the only thing you know about a street or situation is what you can and can't see at that time. Try and emulate my driving licence claim of fifty-six years of undiscovered crime. >:)

Nice one, I passed on my 1st attempt at 28, BUT it was after spending 10yrs on L pates  I just didn't need it.

I don't tend to worry about anything much, but i failed 3 times before I woke up and one of the "dream" tests ended in me crashing into an articulated lorry parked on a village green and a written off red fiesta. >.< so no underlying nerves there then...........

anyway well done.
Col.

Well done. Now you actually start to learn to drive.

Oh, and you also get to think about what sort of car you're going to buy.

Next step? Bike test. Go on, you know it makes sense 😉

Sorry about this one Jambo, I missed it during a period away from the PC, so well done! Have you been out much yet?

I passed first time in '85, but of course the roads were much quieter then  Unfortunately, the day after I passed I managed to hit something. A pigeon flew straight into my radiator grille when I was doing about 40 and I was spraying feathers and bits for the next few miles. Oh the joys of the M-reg (1974) Cortina estate.

Cheers, Bob
