Charlies version is sublime. Charlie with strings 1949. There's a few versions it on the tube. I think this one is clearest. I don't know who's idea it was to put an oboe in the mix. Makes the alto sound lush in comparison.

The saxophone likes sharp home keys. A on tenor is very straight forward. C# no fingers. G# park your pinky and let the sax do the work F# switch index for middle.
E on alto, all of that and add right pinky with D for D#. Any more than 4 sharps and I struggle. Lack of practice.

Anymore than four #'s play anything you want, then resolve to a chord tone or melody note.

I only came across Klaus through that saxophone ballads CD that this song is on.
Plus I'm a fan of the Strathon mouthpieces he uses, though more so on baritone than tenor.

Yes I'm swapping and changing a bit lately between a Morgan Fry Prototype and the one used here which was a Sakshama Florida.
The Sakshama seems to be the darker of the two.
