Tech/maintenance Best place to store unused saxophone

I'm trying to sell my Trevor James tenor. But I've had no interest.

(I've spoken about this tenor in other posts so I won't rehash.)

I just want to know how I should store it long term. I don't like this saxophone but I don't want to damage it!

I would just store it in its case but of course make sure it is dry before putting it away, e.g. if you have played it leave it for a while before putting it away. Ther'es probably no harm in giving it a bit of oiling.

Thank you. It's safely in its case, clean and dry. It's currently standing in the hallway, making me irrationality annoyed 🙈
I was thinking of putting it in the wardrobe, which is basically built-in eaves storage and unheated. Or does it need to be in a normally heated room with a constant temperature?

When a sax is stored for a long time check all screws and axis for oil. Check after a few years if the oil is still there. This is to prevent rust. Storage room must be between 40 and 60% relative air moisture content. When lower, the leather will dry out and when higher, mold can eat the leather and make the case moldy.

Oil
Vacuum / clean inside of case.
Remove everything but the neck and sax from case. Including taking a pad saver out of body.
Find some desiccant packs to place inside .
Store in a cool dry well ventilated area to prevent musty smell or mold issues.
No loft, attic or basement. Avoid damp, extreme cold or heat.
List it on second week of November.

I use these gel packs. They're 'rechargeable' by heating them in an oven or microwave. How many you'll need depends on various factors (I would think three would do) - but you can monitor and adjust this with the help of the hygrometer.
It's also worth getting a Kilner jar to store the spare dry sachets in.

If you're going to store the horn in a cupboard then it's well worth getting another hygrometer to monitor it - and, if necessary, taking steps to regulate the humidity. I use Unibond Aero 360 absorbers, which I find cheap and effective.
