The drummer spoils it for me on that one. He'd be getting the evil eye. Perhaps just guitar and bass would work? And perhaps some strings?

You know what these drummers are like Colin?? Give them a few bars and they take a full chorus..🙂))🙂))

Not touched the soprano for weeks and I can tell !!!!! so just jumped on it and done a 3rd version of this months pick.Its ok for not playing any sop in a while I suppose and i'm using a Alto reed on it :shocked:.

Thanks Chris.My sop chops are atad gone with not playing it for weeks I admit but as it goes for feel,build up,emotion and playing on the solo i'm of happy.I went with more long lines to bring out the soprano.Thats 3 quick fire versions from me.Rest now,well I am sitting in the sun right now with a cool pint of cider,NICEEEEEEEEE

thought i would try something a little different - solo tenor inspired by my mentor mr Brecker
p.s.
i literally recorded this in 1 take and added some reverb!

Sounding sweet.Nice stuff indeed.Very Brecker infused.But then again it would not be you if Brecker was not in there.Your deffo at home on your combo.Enjoyed it.

Not had much chance to look at this as I've been wading through the Gary Burton improv course. Very much out of my depth, but it's given me lots of food for thought.
So many good versions here, Davey your two attempts were both great as usual and Chris, a really smooth, flowing rendition.

Anyway this is my first effort with this beautiful song, I haven't done it justice and the double tempo bit took me by surprise, but I hope to post an improved version by the end of the month.🙂

Great Tune. I've actually got a cool Story about this tune from My Old Teacher Stan.

Stan Studied with Joe Henderson and was at one of his concerts where they played this tune. Apparently it was the last song in the set and Joe played an amazing solo on the tune. Mind blowing as it were. After the set Stan goes up to Joe and Says "Hey Joe, that was one of the best solos on that tune ever" Joe says "Thanks, One of these days I'll learn the changes to it too".
