What's Courtney Pine up to these days?

He made a bit of a splash back in the late 80s and I saw him about that time in Philadelphia doing some straight ahead stuff (and knocking out some of the older jazz guys in the audience who were still getting used to the idea that a black man from England could play bebop at all - stereotypes run deep).

I gather he's done some fairly edgy stuff but have not heard much about him on this side of the Atlantic for quite a while.

Saw him in Brighotn earlier this year, playing a quite funky, almost pop kind of set.. .very very slick indeed. The whole thing reminder me of Manu Dibango or a far slicker, more technical Fela Kuti. there's a new album called "Resistance" which is worth picking up....
