Hi All,

Been asked to play in a warm up to a concert in Church. I have a number of possible encompassing styles of Jazz, Swing, Movies, Salsa. I'm allowed to chose what I play (providing no rude lyrics) Is there a particular Solo Piece you have heard that would stand out??

How about My One and Only Love? I heard it played in a church by Andy Scott on tenor and it was wonderful. Quite slow though if you want something more upbeat.

"For Turiya" by Charlie Haden - a Grade 2 Jazz piece (with piano accompaniment). Went down well when I played it at a musical award ceremony in 2007 (appealed to classical buffs, and all others in equal measure), and was both accessible and meaningful.

It don't mean a thing if it aint got that swing
Moon River
My heart will go on (Titanic)

Just need to sort the one that will work.

Now Minnie the Moocher might not be quite the right thing for a churching with the drug and prostitution references.
