Vibrato.

Was practising during the Brit Earthquake, really good for my vibrato. As this is unlikely to happen every practice session, could anyone please suggest any other electro-mechanical appliance to achieve the same effect?

Behringer make a mutli effects pedal (about ?25) that has a tremelo effect on it. Unfortunateley (or not 😉 ) it would mean mic-ing up and playing through an amp to use it! I must admit to a secret longing to play my sax through my guitar pedal board which includes such delights a "Flanger" and a "Wah Wah" pedal!! :laugh:

Did you feel it? We live 8 miles from market Rasen (the epicentre) and it shook every brick and window but luckily no damage. I woke and shouted at John 'What the f**k is that?" He said - "must be an earthquake' and promptly went back to sleep! Men eh?

As for your vibrato- try the electric mains rather than the water?

PaulyT: if you can, and you fancy something new, I'd suggest you go and buy a ZOOM505 multi effect pedal. I have used several such guitar pedals for years with great success. Not always for 'weird' effects, but things like reverb (great for ballads) room effect delay (sounds very funky and Motown) and even multi-phonic pitch splitting (sounds like a full horn section) Well worth the forty-odd quid it might cost to buy one second hand.

Oldgit: My old flute books used to teach a method of vibrato that involved actually 'shaking' the instrument while playing!. Not sure how that would look (or work) on a sax. There even seems to be some disagreement about how to do it legitimately on a sax. Some say it's a jaw movement, some say it's a diaphragm control. Hmmmm.

I was on this forum when it shook. I didn't feel anything in Pompey though. was hoping to see my microphone bobbing up and down in it's shock mount, I knew they were designed for something!

Actually, although I agree with nearly all of this, in cosmic terms we live on the thin, fragile shell of a TINY molten ball.

Kinda liberating isn't it? Sorta puts things in perspective a bit...
