On some TV programme a while back an old person was being asked questions to determine memory loss.
When asked when WW2 began she said '1919, the Treaty of Versailles made it inevitable'.
Politely disagree, Aldevis.
If it had not been for the savage reparations demanded by the French and meekly granted by the Brits, the savage inflation that allowed The National Socialist Party to gain power might not have arisen or is that political?

I've split this out from the memories thread.
As long as this stays on history, it's OK. Political for the forum means ideological and interminable and ultimately unpleasant/unanswerable arguments about the merits/demerits of politicians and their parties.
Doesn't it look like the 1930's again?
Where are the fancy suits and hats of that era...i miss those

During the inflationary Weimar Republic, a German woman filled her wheelbarrow with a million Deutschmarks and went to the butcher to get 2 pounds of Bratwurst.
Before she got there, she was mugged by some bandits, who took her wheelbarrow and left the million Deutschmarks on the ground.
