A bit of cafe history.
Back in 2006 I started a forum, initially on my site at petethomas.co.uk and subsequently moved to the Breakfastroom forum. This lasted until we decided to move to more professional forum platform, ie vBulletin and new domain name Cafesaxophone.com was born.
The name was to
Sadly at that time the old format seemed impossible to convert to vBulletin, so we started from scratch at the beginning of March 2009, although there are a few posts earlier as I had already started jazzrecipes.com in 2008 and those posts were also imported. I believe the first actual Cafesaxophone.com post was this one: Beginner theory - Modal jazz, modes and scales
Thus the Cafe was born, and the old Breakfastroom was available as a read only archive.
However fast forward to 2025, our esteemed website host @MattW quite rightly pointed out that the old cgi script breakfastroom format was becoming (or had already become) a security vulnerability. Some of you may have wondered why the archives disappeared, but no longer need to worry as I finally found a developer who could convert the archives to xenForo format and we have now imported into Cafesaxophone.
You can now see the (2006 - 2009) archive here:

I will be sifting through the archive and where appropriate moving threads into the main forum sections. Although it makes sense not to start new threads there, you may reply and revive any of the existing threads.
In most cases we managed to amalgamate the user accounts, so most of our members who were in both old and new have the same account, but there are a few where usernames are quite common (e.g. Chas or Dave) I did not yet merge as it wasn't obvious it was the same person and the user from the old forum has _br appended, e.g. Dave_br. Please let me know if you are the same person both and I will merge the accounts

- Be better for SEO with saxophone in the title
- To move away from being a UK centric forum.
