Saxophone Teachers in Denmark

Hello all - I will be returning to Denmark over the summer monsoon months, in a hope to get away from the rain :laugh:

A would like to use this opportunity to have some instruction and have some questions answered that have been bugging me for the last two years.
Does anyone know any saxophone teachers in Jutland (Jylland) Denmark (e.g. Aarhus, Viborg, Aalborg etc.) Alternatively does anyone know a good resource site that I can look up on the net that would list teachers, music shops etc.

Ideally the teacher should have a background in Jazz, Blues, funk, rock, rather than a classical pedigree.

My freind Andrew Clark (Rock & Roll Saxophone, Saxophone Journal) his coming to South Sweden in July. His is running his own music school; bradfordschoolofmusic.com. We have been doing workshops in the Copenhagen area before. Right now I don't know if there will be a new class in Denmark this summer.

I'm from Sweden/Scania. About 10 sSwedish miles from Copenhagen.

Tomorrow I'm going to drive over to Odense, Fyn, to meet and listen Don Wise. Delbert McClinton Bands is playing at Posten Live tomorrow night. He is playing great Rock- R&B-sax. I wrote a presentation about Don on my website.

Thomas - How was the Don Wise concert? Your also very lucky to live so close to Copenhagen when the Copenhagen Jazz Festival is on in the summer. Wayne Shorter is playing this year. My wife and I work at Roskilde Festival every year. Not much Jazz, but we have a great time there, even when it is raining and muddy. Thanks again for your help.

The Delbert Mc Clinton Band show was great. A two hours gig with a very tight band. There is a lot of energy in the in band. The venue Posten in Odense is a very good place. A new place near Odense railway station. I talk to Don Wise before and after the show. We are sharing the same interest: Food, Rock- R&B sax and "The Martin" saxes, so we use to have a lot to talk about. Don is a real master on R&B sax. He use o lot of Ghosting , or lazy double tongue as Don prefer to call it, Growl, "Doo Wops".... .

So you are also a person that love mud? On Roskilde Festivalen you can have a very good time. Good music, nice people, lots of mud, rubber boots and raincoats. Rubberboats and raincaots are more for the mature part of the audience, like myself. And I leave the tent at home!!

I fyou are going to Copenhagen Jazz Festival you can drive or take the train over to Sweden. Andrew Clark is here between 6/7-11/7 for gigs and some teaching. Last year we had a great Saxblast here. We were able to get Gordon Beadle aka Sax Godon to join us.

I would love to catch some of the Copenhagen festival, I'll try and arrange my dates so I can catch a few shows. May be even pop over to Sweden. My family on my mother's side come from Ronneby in Blekinge so it would be nice to visit there (I have never been). Lets keep in touch, maybe catch a gig and talk "sax stuff". Maybe you could give me some pointers too - I am really not very advanced.

A trip to Ronneby and Blekinge sounds good! On your way to Blekinge you can stop at a place called Illstorp and listen to Andrew Clark. The gig will take place 2008-07-10. Another gig is planned, that one is in Ystad, Friday 2008-07-11.

When it comes to teaching and pointers Andrew Clark is the right person. I'm not sure I can help that much, I'm a real bad player nowadays, too much work and less saxophone, I'm afraid. But we can always talk and perhaps blow some sax as well.
