All versions great as per usual The New guys to the forum in particular showing some real sexy tones. I`ve been trying to refloat some pads and deleak my Conn when the leaklamp broke so I`m well rusty and this recording is also too verby but I suppose if you close your eyes you could perhaps imagine it`s in some empty seafront hotel dancehall late at night.. I do like this song though NKC does it for me. Hope I get a keeper recorded before the end of the month.

Very nice playing,Colin. But better still is the vocal. My vocal skills are limited and I would really like to be able to sing this song but it's not easy to sing. You hit the notes dead on. To be honest, I'd prefer hearing someone sing a few verses instead of five minutes of solid instrumental.

Thank you. Singing is very strange. Like anything musical, practice improves tone, pitching, etc but I don't think anybody sounds good to themselves. I've been quite surprised by peoples reactions to my vocals. The hardest part with this one is remembering the words.

The place where I normally record my takes recently got sold, so I thought I couldn't join this month BOTM (I can't play or record at home at all). Told that to a pro tenor player friend I visited last Friday and he offered his recording setup to make the recording immediately. I didn't practise the theme yet, but had the printed score in my sax case. He had a backing track I never listened to before and since I only had 5 minutes left before I had to leave it had to be a real quick and dirty unprepared take. I was surprised to hear (during the recording!) an organ backing and a kind of annoying latin rhythm in the solo (I hate that), but tried to finish the take anyhow to be able to post something here because I really I love this number (I have a great Sonny Stitt tenor version with brother Jack McDuff on CD). Anyhow, here is my super quick and dirty take, recorded with the baddest preparation ever:
