Not having the skills of you expert solo improvisers I limited my take to just one play through of the song this time. It seems pointless going through the same notes twice. 😵

Thanks for sharing your time and effort with us. I'm sure not qualified to give advice on improv since I stink at it myself. Although every now and then I can hear some ideas if I play the tune over and over in my head. Keep on trying though.

Nick got the melody correct in the second half of the head, where as I kept putting a pause in the wrong place. I was too lazy to do a correct take. I make so many mistakes to get a clean one I would have been there all day. lol

Now i see things differently (maybe because my musical knowledge is low) but if this is your take on the tune why is there mistakes ?
Why can't you add/omit notes,rests, ect isn't it 'your version' on how you would like it played !

It was a mistake in my mind because the pause changes the whole feel of those two phrases. The way the music as written sounds more musically appealing to me, so to me, I messed up. I don't remember why I did it. Maybe I was running out of air and had to do a "take a breath" pause. lol

Strictly speaking, yes, unless you own a copy of the backing track. I'm not sure where it came from, but I guess the OP can tell you.

It's a well written melody. I tried just piano but couldn't find a match in the band box.

I've been listening to the Gerry Mulligan quartet in the car, no guitar or piano. I recently got soundcloud working again and Adevis' "I'm a fool to want you" from a few months back popped up and was on my mind.


I'm back to using the £2.99 clip on mic btw.

If you can find a backing track that includes the melody it may help with phrasing and timing. If you get lost it sounds better to noodle till you can pick it up again.
