Oh yes,
now I can hear it. Seems the side effects slowly vanish.

I just went through and remixed it - twice! Monkeyed with EQ and other things. Even redid the bridge of the flute part. The tenor sound is little better, but none of it wins any awards, playing, mix or sound. I wanted to find a rhythm that isn't much explored since Coltrane's Favorite Things. It's a fun rhythm to play on, although it doesn't sound that great for this tune, a little forced.

That's great - but as you surely are aware of - much easier with a real rhythm section.

Tony Hatch wasn't it. Around the same time as Down Town I seem to remember.

This the version I remember well, was very popular back then. The Hal Leonard version on the JPA Vol-40 Bossa Nova is about the same tempo as I recall.
