Tone or Sound How to get a vintage sound?

what is this vintage sound??
I am what could be called vintage, and my lip goes all floppy, and I slobber a lot, and after a while I have to go and have a lay down, groaning. Does all this add up to the vintage sound??
Sometimes with my aching back, and my creaking knees and shortage of breath my groaning whilst playing produces an interesting sound effect!! Have I cracked the "growl".
Conclusion: you can only get the "vintage sound" when you are vintage yourself, as quite a few on this site can confirm 🙂
A thought: maybe the "vintage" sound, is the inferior sound quality of the 50's recording methods, or transcription from vinyl to disk??
Just baccy for your pipes :S

You're right. There are no "vintage sound". It's a subjective term.

In the pop/rock field (which is what I'm thinking of on this thread) I always reckoned vintage sound is what rockers produced before the advent of electric guitars- ie- sort of swing tone but very aggressive, as opposed the post-king curtis, "pretend you're an electric guitar"* sort of tone...

*not intended as a criticism of king curtis BTW...
