I too get to around 120 to 125 bpm with sixteenths before I loose the accuracy and/or clarity of articulation.
I tried 152 starting from crotchets to quavers then triplets and tried moving to semis but just couldn't manage it.
On amount of mouthpiece front, I've just started taking a bit less and my tone has definitely improved. whether how much mpc I'm taking is classed as a little or a lot or average though is another thing.
