Gerald Albright's set-up

Having been listening to a bit of his music on Youtube just now (cheers Simon), I am curious to know if anyone knows what he plays on. In some videos he's playing a black and gold sax with a brass mouthpiece, on others he has a white one with a black ebonite. Always sounds the same though. Funny that. 😉

STUNNING looking instruments (and a great sound). But what are they?

I'm guessing the mouthpieces are Beechler or Sugal, and the horn could be a Cannonball Big Bell (??)

Answers on a post card - well web site:

Q: What type of horns do I play?

A: I play Cannonball Musical Instruments/Big Bell Series

Q: What type of mouthpiece do I use?

A: I play Beechler mouthpieces on all of my horns, with the exception of a metal Dukoff mouthpiece for my soprano saxophone.

Q: What type of reeds do I use?

A: I use LaVoz "medium hard" reeds on all of my horns.

Thanks, John and Sue, but see what I've done? 😉 by talking about it here, now we all know. And the "smart-arse beanbag" gets passed back.

don't forget the big hunk of cheese gerald AB stuffs down his horn for that authentic sound..

A "Meeeeiowwww" seems appopriate here because, well, yes, when he's doing that "Phil Collins" thaaang a huge chunk of cheese is needed by everyone involved.
On the other hand, when he's playing what I can only describe as "other stuff" he sounds great to me! I'd be happy to play that well and to sound that good.
As a beginner, both the sax and to "jazz", am I setting my cap in the wrong direction?
PaulyT 🙂
