Well its finally happened, Stung on Ebay 😡

Anyway not what I wanted to come from work to. I tried phoning him but a vague woman on the end of the phone said he had left ages ago, she had no number. 8|

I always try not to leave people feeling unhappy when I sell something, so its really wound me up now its happened to me.

Anyway rant over hope everyelse one has had a good day.

[color:green]Bob, I think it's only sellers aren't going to be able to leave negative feedback. I think it's to stop them leaving negative feedback in revenge for buyers who give them a negative, even if the buyer's paid up properly.

[color:green]That really annoys me too Col, when sellers are making a massive profit on P&P. I complained to E-bay once about it, but I never heard anything back.

Hi Col,

did you pay by paypal? if so you could get most of your money back.

firstly try sending a couple of messages through ebay,

secondly give them negative feedback with stong words such as,
" not as described, overcharged on postage, didnt reply to emails, one item missing, not a pleasant experience". etc

thirdly if you have paid by paypal - go to the dispute console and mark/ choose the box that says significantly not as described.

The postage thing is a grey area.

Yes it may be exorbitant, but unless its contrary to what it says in the description then I don't think you can complain officially. Of course if they said it would be sent registered next day and it only went normal postage then that is definitely wrong.

Been stiffed twice on Ebay- both times on DVDs. Paypal refunded me within days both times.
On the subject of Ebay, do any of you guys do much selling on the Devil's Junkyard? I've noticed a complete change in buying patterns which I'd be interested in other folks corroberating (or not). No one seems to be going for bid prices any more, everyone's wanting 'buy now', plus- on one's leaving feedback anyone (either that or none of the stuff I post ever arrives, but i don't want to think about that possibility). I've currently got 19 sold items awaiting feedback from the last 6 weeks, until recently you could expect feedback within 2-3 days of sending....
anyone else finding the same?

My selling experiences have mostly been good. Over the years I believe I have got quite good at the selling process - descriptions that are obviously honest - e.g. pointing out defects clearly along with the good points. Very large clear photos and sometimes links to soundclips.

Recently I have been getting feedback, but about year ago I went through a patch of no feedback.

I have one negative - as a buyer. I went to pick up a Grafton that was advertised as "near mint". It had repairs to the plastic, shot pads and it actually fell apart as I took it out of the case.

The seller (who was not a saxophone player and had 0 feedback) said, well I meant it was near mint cosmetically (ie from a distance it looks quite pretty). I thought she had accepted that it was not described and I was therefore under no obligation to buy, but when I got home there was the negative calling me a deadbeat.

It was worse for her as once I'd left negative for her she had feedback of -1 .

I go through phases of buying and selling especially around this time of the year when we have a bit of a clearout at home. I must say I've always has good experiences but I'm really careful about selling and really really careful what I buy.

I've notice that it's getting harder to bid on things even in the last minute and I think that more people are using this sniping tool thing. I think that takes all the fun out of it so I don't bother to bid anymore. Perhaps that's why people are using "buy it now" .

Well, thanks for your thoughts. I realise we have paypal to fall back, and possibly credit card co. We have got to 263 feedback both buying and selling with only 1 idiot spoiling it about 18 months ago, Who negged me for complaining about buying an "AS NEW" xbox game when it arrived scratched to hell and the booklet missing!

Looks like it was all a genuine mistake on the sellers wife's part. Things have taken a turn for the better. We exchanged emails and a solution was offered and accepted. Looks like Ebay paranoia took over for a minute or two.

I'll keep you all posted as to outcome.

Cheers
Col.

My experiences with ebay have largely been good, save for one, a couple of years ago, when I had a spare Sony PSP I was selling and some scammer tried to tell me he'd paid for it by PayPal and asked me to ship the goods threatening negative feedback if I didn't. PayPal intervened and normality was restored.

How's that Bari blowin Col9, still in love with it? I've had mine for 3 years now and it just gets better and better!

Right update time........... the guy involved couldn't have been more apologetic. He offered a refund of postage and instead of the missing Yamaha 4c or whatever mouthpiece he sent a vintage Berg Larsen.

Its an ebonite which has a bit of history behind it. It was apparently used by a Vegas musician to support the Rat Pack. Now, it looks old enough how the engraving has worn. The sound OMG its so loud it unbelivable Takes quite a bit of control but hell is it worth it. :w00t:

It engravings are Berg Larsen, London reg design, 100 with a 1 under it, an M and either 4L Vinci or AL Vinci hand engraved into it. It a little nick in the side but the rails and tip etc are damn near perfect.

So I ended up with a Vandoren V1, reall smooth almost brassy sound, a H-Couf special louder and jazzier, a yamaha 4c and the berg Larsen.

So not a sniff of disaster in the end which is great. If the guy ever reads this thankyou soooo much I really do appreciate it.

Simon, I'm loving the Bari. I cant describe how much. I'm finding that changing octaves quickly is a little tricky and requires more adjustment of my embouchure than the alto, but its just so cool. I'm playing "The Swan" and Dido's lament at the moment. The bari changes the mood of the music so amazingly well.

My daughters play the French horn and Trumpet and with Jane on her tenor, practising is really worth doing. When get it right it makes the neighbours cry and when we get it wrong it still makes them cry for different reasons. I wouldn't say I'm any where near good yet but I feel I'm progressing a bit again.
