Saxophones Can anyone help me identify this saxophone?

So I found this what I believe is A C.G. CONN LTD Elkhart naked lady Alto. I have no clue though it seems old with engraving that says TOPPER. So I found the saxophone while cleaning out a garage at a house I’m fixing up and selling. The serial number is

Not enough pics especially of the bell and neck areas. Don't think Conn did any Naked Lady altos, might be a 6 or Chu. There are lots of Conn serial number resources online, search there.

I imagine complete overhaul given its not only pads but those springs look like they are toast. I wouldn't want one of those to snap and ping off into my eyeball.

60086 is too early for what is know as the Naked Lady model, but may still have a naked lady engraving which we cannot see. Be aware the overhaul may cost more than the actual value. At least it's low pitch 🙂

Judging solely by some threads here...
... It may be better to take lots of pics, ask here for a realistic price and sell it "as is" To hobby/enthusiast.
If you or someone does it up it could cost a fortune and you'd still be held responsible for it's playability.
Flipping horns is a different skill set to flipping houses.

They cannot sell here without becoming a subscriber. They could sell it to a tech/dealer though who would be able to resell.

From that amount of information no one can tell anything except it appears to be an alto sax.

Post pictures, left side, right side, neck details and engraving.

Thank you all I do appreciate it. It does work surprisingly the case i found it in is really beat down and broken with blue suede interior. I’m actually thinking it’s a Buscher. But I have no clue I’m definitely reading and learning a lot in the exchange of musical wisdom. Also I can only post 2 pictures at a time it says.

Looks like a Conn stencil but later than the 1907 as both bell keys on the left. Pan American model?

Someone else had said that also. What’s your opinion on the value if you can value it that is. Like I said it plays it’s just beat up.

In my opinion very little value. Maybe £100. I’ve two Conn stencils - Conn Cavaliers. Lovely sweet alto’s but I paid $50 for one and about £150 for the other!

I agree, as a stencil the Conn aspect to it adds very little value compared to it being an actual Conn. Even if you said it plays, anyone looking at the photos with pads falling out may not believe you. Unless maybe you posted a video of playing it.

But from your photos, at least two pads appear to be missing, one of which is in the glove compartment, so I'm a bit perplexed about it playing OK.

Topper was a stencil name...this is a Conn Pan American, so their second line horns. Not to be confused with their Naked Ladies. So it's a "PanAm stencil".

Not much market value here in states maybe $100usd in that condition. Might be worth a tad more on your side of pond. 125quid maybe, tops ?

The serial number, which looks like 60086 ?.... will not conform to Conn serial numbers, Pan Americans (although made by Conn at their plant, that is what they called their second shelf line) had their own serial sequence.

Kevin McKnight (member Badenia ofver at SOTW not sure if he is a member here ?) put together that serial number list over a period of about 5 years, I helped him with the registry a little bit, so it's an accurate list:

Makes it around 1947, which looks around right judging from the details.

GOOD workhorse horns, these had the same body and neck tubes as the 6M's...so a good, reliable player when in near play-shape.

To bring this one back, as noted by others, would purely be a labor of love, because even in tip-top (pun sorta intended) shape....it'd only be worth maybe $450usd/550quid. But having a shop fix it will run at least 500quid as I understand UK tech prices these days, or if you are in US it'd be a good $500 of repair work. So you'd be putting more money into it that its market value.

But for a novice or DIY repairman wanting a good patient to mess around on, maybe worthwhile.
