Yes, it was the dissonance that led me to question the chords. Now that I've raised the issue and you've cleared it up, I have no excuse for not getting this tune into shape.

Turns out I was working on this tune and then logged in to find @guidocreo had posted the above. I gave a listen and liked the embellishments there (I was playing it completely straight), so I was inspired to go back today and re-do, adding a bit here and there.. thanks Guido! I do have a question! For a while I gazed at the chords, trying to figure out what scales might work...no luck. After a while I just played with the backing track and found a (for tenor) Dm pentatonic (D, F, G, A, C) seemed to sound not too bad. So I went with that, and added a couple of blue notes (Ab) in the B section. My question: is this in Dm (Cm concert)? Based on sound it seems to be. Also, I see the last chord is F6/9 which would be: F, A, C, D, G, which are the notes in that Dm pentatonic scale. ???

I learn ballads by ear, I can't read well enough to make it worth the time. It was fun, this is my second or third take. I'll keep practicing.
