Bit of cork

Something strange just happened. A piece of cork just feel from my saxophone whilst I was playing it. I didn't see where it came from and i have inspected my sax and can't find anything missing, but I'm worried.

If it was a small rectangle it sounds like it might have been sitting under part of the mechanism to stop it hitting the sax. If you press down all the keys individually and listen out for a slight metallic click you'll have found the point where the cork should be.

Glue it Back in with evo stick or another contact adhesive, not super glue.
I don't think it'll make too much odds if you cant find it.

how big was the bit of cork? and how new is the sax? if you just got the sax it could be a piece of shipping cork, put in to stop stuff moving in the case-they usually hold open a pad. If it is this then theres nothing to worry about at all, they're all meant to be off before you start to play.

Shipping cork is usally quite large 1cm ish (depends on the pad it was holding open) so if its as big as you say it is its prob that. Oli

The sax is Brand new, and I've checked over all the keys and I can't hear any tapping. The cork is in fact as you said Oliver -about 1 cm large and practically a perfect cube, so all the evidence seems to be pointing to it holding a pad open.

I'll ask my tutor next week about it, hopefully that should clear things up permanently, but I think your right

thanks guys
