Saxophones An answer to a question I've never asked - P. Mauriat Phoenix

[lig]

I can't even suss out what the benefit might be.

It's outside the box - will give them that. 😀

Not a P. Mauriat hater - one of my backup altos is their Black Pearl and it's a really great looking horn but not really sure what they are going for here.

R&C beats them for efficiency. They are claiming Two Voices from only one bell lol...

[Targa]

Maybe it was Taiwan’s ‘April Fool day’.

[lig]

A reasonable conclusion !

[Pete Thomas]

it leaves room for improvement though. Three bells would be awesome 😉

Welcome to Super Intelligence...

[turf3]

Well, that version of "artificial intelligence" certainly meets the "artificial" criterion.

Show me the case it comes in and I’ll believe it.

It’s the wrong approach though. Second bell definitely needs to exit behind you for a 360 sound

Available in key of C ?

One lives in hope…

[Colin the Bear]

I've seen the trumpet version, with a muted and unmuted Bell with a trigger to switch. Seems to work quite well.

Generally I have found wind 'exiting behind' a player makes the audience disperse

Not to mention your bandmates

[mizmar]

Jokes aside, how are the bell keys even meant to work?
Low B and B♭ will see two different lengths of tube... Could be an interesting effect.

Normal horn section sights and smells

As it is well known that the saxophone attracts ladies there is a man with a look of smug satisfaction who knows that tonight it will be twins.

I think I can see some leaks. May want to put a light down there to be sure.

[Woodpad]

This makes my think of a teacher-student saxophone for four hands with two crooks and one bell.

Or duets with someone you'd like to know a little better.

[PigSquealer]

Playing this “twin bell” qualify as doubling ?
