Well, here's a few recordings from a couple of weeks ago. I was using a cheap clip-on mic from a webcam so a bit of key clatter picked up occasionally, comments please

you've really nice smooth tone, and really good vibrato, not too much and not to big, I like it. and a nice choice of tunes too.

One thing I did notice was you were close to tripping up a few times in the faster sections, I think this is because you lift your fingers rather high off of the touch pieces. I could only see your left hand first and second fingers though so don't know if you were doing the same with your bottom fingers or not.

Might be worth standing in front of a mirror and playing some scales getting the feel of smaller finger movements.

well done Phil, no 3 is definately Round Midnight.

As mike suggests it would be nice with some backing - PM me if theres anything specific you want as a backing track and I'll check my "library"

yes.. i like it.. round midnight is the 3rd tune..
one tip.. record at a lower level, this way you wont clip the mic out, as it is it will only record to a certain lvl before distorting..

Whoops, got my naming wrong, I've got harlem nocturne somewhere :whistle:

The mic was a cheap clip-on one from a web-cam, and I just stuck Windows Movie Maker on and played, I guess I ought to put a bit more effort in set-up next time.

Mike, sax is a Martin Handcraft Committee.

Linky, good idea on the mirror, I suspect you're right there. Thanks for the comment on vibrato though, nice to hear.

Griff, I have the playalongs for these so it's just laziness that stopped me putting them on.

Phil - good stuff man! Good use of dynamics too...

I liked 'Sleepin Bee' - esp from round 1:45 - your articulation picked up, sound got stronger and you were tellin it...

which leads me to one piece of advice on sightreading: it's hard work, but try and be reading a couple of bars ahead of where you're actually playing. That way you can concentrate on expressing the tune rather than decoding the dots (which is hard work and makes it easier to lose time and your place)...
