How to work out the key? Well most 'standards' are relatively easy to figure out. Most of the time the final chord or end cadence will give the key. Other pop. rock and funk tunes are a little more complicated to work out the key.
In the case of 'shadow of you smile' the first 5 note pick up are based on a minor chord, which is the relative minor to the key, or if you like the minor chord starting on the 6th note of the major scale. In other words if it's in G, the opening pick up would be based on the Em chord. So then, all I did was listen to the opening pickup phrase on the youtube clips, and that would give me the key.
If you download/grab audio of YouTube, and open it with transcribe, you can change the pitch to any key you wish.

I like the way you left some space in the solo section, not just fill it with unnecessary notes (something I can be guilty of).

Not the first time my 10 M crossbar has been called a beast. Used a Rousseau JDX mp instead of my usual big band Yanagisawa mp. Thanks for the comment.

Nice one Nick, very easy on the ear, perfect summer listening (for us in the southern hemisphere) but 8am is too early to pop the top of bottle!
