This months ballad will be ' There Came You ' by Bill Evans.

It's different, not your usual AABA 'Standard'

Video here http://youtu.be/NpUA9QDLtOE ft Zoot Sims on tenor..

Backing track and transposed pdf's here https://www.box.com/s/2kf2q98193lp00pl41bh

You can ignore the word Concert on the Pdf...

This version is just a couple of choruses long with a 4bar intro..

Looking forward to some interesting versions of this one. Have fun guys..

Chris...

Chris, am I right in assuming that the lead sheet is in the same concert key as the backing track and therefore we need to transpose accordingly. I tried using Audacity to drop the backing track down a tone so I could play the lead sheet as it stands on tenor but it wasn't sounding too harmonious. Could just be me though and perhaps need to play it more confidently.

NO, the sheet should play without altering anything..

Is it midnight yet? Can I post yet? Can I be first? Can I?

Haven't managed to improvise over it yet. Will need a lot more time for that on this one I think. Tricky enough just playing what's on the sheet in parts. Excuse the fluffy fingering here and there...

Posting every so slightly ahead of midnight as I'm ill and really need to be in bed!

Had a play through this tune, the second half I just tried to keep the same sort of feel a the first so it's not very exciting..

You do have an enviably consistently nice smooth level tone Chris I must say. Well done on tackling a chorus of improv. I haven't found the pluck for that challenge as yet.
