ah you mean the false fingering, that i DEFINATLY took from Brecker, but Sanborn uses it a lot also, so now i see what you mean, thanks for being specific in you analysis2.12. reminds me a bit of DS.

why look at your new key as a kind of scary challenge? accidentals are a good thing and it is also a great key, really rich in 'musical colour' for improvisation, i personally prefer improvising in so called awkward keys, in the long run you will see why for yourself, have fun with it, you are the boss of your sax remember and just go for it fella! 🙂
cheers fella, thanks for that...Big bright tenor tones,you all over.Enjoyed it a lot.Nice job dude.
indeeed, well spotted, i tried to keep within the context of the genre etcNice version Ian, liked the Rollins esqe quotes here and there..
Chris..
Outstanding! Funny I was kinda thinking Sanborn-esque too 😀
Hey guys this thread has gone a bit quiet. When are some of the regular posters going to put up something for May?
To take a break from scale playing for the Berklee online improv course I've just had a go at improvising over Chris' backing track for There Came You. Nothing clever, no improvising of chord changes, just simplistic noodling in G major really, and it sounds too uncomfortably like my other efforts for my liking but I really was trying to come up with something different, honest! Found it hard to get anything going but here it is anyway. Maybe it will spur some other contributors on?...

P.S. Big thanks to Chris as always.
looks like this BOTM has tappered off sadly... my 1 valid question, why no postings from other administrators?? Chris is out doing you all with commitment and effort!
c'mon kevgermany and Pete, live up to Chris's high standard as he seems to be the ONLY admin who posts BOTM recently! ;}
rant over!
sadly that seems true,You will be waiting a very very long time for the other 2 ,be warned 🙂))🙂))🙂))🙂))🙂))
Hardly surprising there aren't more versions posted of this tune. The chords are wonderfully complicated making There She Came a difficult piece to get inside. It's not hard to make The Nearness Of You sound presentable, it almost plays itself, it's pure and simple, a Bluebells of Scotland among ballads. Making something out of the Bill Evans tune is infinitely harder. I've only been playing sax for six months but do have a long history of improvising on other instruments. I wouldn't expect a beginner to even scratch the surface of this gem in less than a month.
Having said that, will do my best to post a version ASAP. There must be others here who could give it a whirl.
