I used to do a song wot I wrote called the 'Lorry Driving Pervert Blues' based on a true incident from my earlier life. PM for more details :x :erm:

It's not really that meaty, although it was potentially dangerous I suppose; I was a relatively naive longhaired 17-year-old, and I used to hitch-hike all over the place. One time, I was coming back from West Wales, and I got picked up by what seemed like a fairly friendly lorry driver - a little too friendly as it turned out.

After an hour or so on the road we pulled into a layby where he got his flask out (not a euphemism!) and made with the tea. While we were drinking our tea, I noticed a) a soft, rhythmic sound coming from somewhere (not the radio) and b) his right hand was thrust into his trouser pocket. Put two and two together and you will come up, correctly, with about four.

At this point, the conversation became increasingly, umm, personal shall we say, culminating in his offer to, well, give me a bit of a seeing to in the back of his lorry. I declined his offer, quite graciously I thought, but at that point he refused to take me any further, claiming he was turning off very soon, so I had to try and thumb a lift from the most godforsaken and remote layby in all of Wales after he'd driven off. At least he didn't turn nasty, although to say the least the experience was uncomfortable (again not a euphemism).

All part of life's rich tapestry of experience and learning, I suppose...

Surely, Bob, it was the lorry driver that was 'experimenting at length' with his 'metal piece' - ahhh you can say those words, but we know what you mean.

best hitching story I've come across came from the lead singer of my old band, Mudlow- who was an Aussie. he was picked up somewhere miles from anywhere, in Aus, by a truck driver. On looking back in the cab he saw a larg fruit bat hanging asleep in the back of the cab.
"that's my pet fruit bat. got him trained as good as any dog" said the driver...
just to make conversation Toby jokingly disagreed with this"no way can you train a bat...?" etc...
after an hour or so of this the driver said... "right, watch this" and stopped the van in the middle the outback. he hopped out of the van, lifted the bat out and threw it up into the air. the bat flapped around a few times and flew off.... and off... and over horizon... never to return!
after a fifteen minute or so silence "that was my bat, he was my mate! he's been with me three years!" blurted the driver, obviously gutted!
the rest of the hitch took place in stony silence...
