So as not to take Tris's diary way off topic, I'll put up a new post.

I've downloaded the DVD mentioned, but can't see the video, only hear the audio. Any thoughts on what I'm missing - not too heavy on the computer jargon please...

Tried playing on both Quicktime and Real Player, both the same. audio with no picture.

regards, Phil

It worked for me in Quicktime.

You should go on the web and download the latest version, it's free and it should work then.

You could try windows media player as well. Or download a dvd player. Windows comes standard with Power DVD which works for most applications. You may be running an older windows that doesn't have it though.

Hope you get it working! It's a great DVD.

Quicktime tells me it "hasn't got a component to run the file and the component is not available from the quicktime website" Great, thanks.

PowerDVD only wants to work from a DVD, I can't tell it to run a file that's on the hard drive.

Windows Media Player tells me it does not recognise the file extension or the "codec that was used for compressing"

I'm on Windows XP home, 5.1

Phil...

I had the same problem... I got it working in Windows media player...

Find the file in explorer.....

Right click and choose "Open with"

Select Media Player if it is there... if not choose "Choose another program" at the bottom and find media player.

Media player will say it can't play it but it will offer to look for teh right "codec" follow the advise and install as direted and you should be good to go.

I had QT installed and even an uninstall are reinstall of the latest version did not solve the problem...

Still no joy.

Trying to open in Windows Media Player I firstly get a message that

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

This offers two choices "close" or "more information".

If I choose "more Info" it sends me to the Error Centre saying I have a "C00D1199: Cannot play the file" and simply listing file types that are supported. It doesn't offer to do anything about it.
