I saw Tommaso at St. Ives jazz club last Tuesday, and what a wonderful player he is! Out of the Parker/Adderley school of alto playing, very nimble with every note discernable, but he also has a great feel and tone on ballads.

Plays mostly covers/standards, and some of his own compositions, great to listen to, also good to watch as he moves with the music - I'd hardly call it dancing! - and obviously loves what he is doing. Special mention also goes to his drummer Andrea Trillo, who really makes the most of a very small (in both senses of the word) kit.

Cheers, Bob

Bobby,

I'd back up everything you say about Tomasso. I've seen him 3 or 4 times now and he unfailingly gives a great performance.

I'd also say he is one of the nicest, most approachable musicinas I have come across...a true gentlemen in every sense of the word. My daughter goes weak at the knbees at the mention of his name...something to do with good looks I think!

is he the chap who won the euro jazz muso of the year?
i've heard him a few times on the radio.. he sure can play a bit..

I think he is, he's certainly good enough. What I like about his style is it's speed and fluidity, but he doesn't come over as a flash git. When I saw him, Tommaso and Andrea the drummer launched into a couple of very spirited, totally swinging alto/drums improvs.

Cheers, Bob
