The Music of John Coltrane

I've got a spiral bound book of 100 Coltrane compositions which have been simplified to an extent perfect for a beginner wanting to get some different material and progress into more abstract jazz. There are varying levels of difficulty some that would be considered rather hard but these are very minimal (the most I would place as roughly equivalent of ABRSM grade 3/4 if you know much about their standards).

IMO the book is most suited for playing along with CD's if you have transposition software or transpose it yourself (As I believe a few songs have been changed in key to make then 'easier') or with jazz groups wanting to cover a few well known classics.

The book is pristine (with complimentary tea stain 😛) as it wasn't what I was after and so I haven't really touched it (The cat has though!).

It contains a discography in the back which is very good and has a short biography at the beginning.

offers welcome.

Sorry Bob, I'm going to have to show my youthful inexperience and say that one went right over my head.

unfortunately the cat in question from the 'post your pet (first class to Kentucky) thread' spilt tea on a few pages last night. Oops.

I may ship her off after all >:)

 only kidding!

As one fo the more "vintage" viewers on this forum, I think Bob was asking you how much you want for it!

It will indeed, Though my cat Rosie who spillt the tea may get a claim to the fame?

I'm not going to get rich and famous. Even if I could, I wouldn't. I don't like the idea of it or the lifestyle it brings with it. Yuck. I'd rather work hard for what I get and struggle through when needed than be given everything on a platter making it worthless.

...and don't forget losing any sense of your own artistic worth when you are surrounded by yes-men telling you your every note is genius.

I'd prefer to either be the bloke at the back making a living, or the session bloke making a living. I think there's a lot to be said for being able to walk down the street 😉

Cheers, Bob

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
