Tech/maintenance The future of the saxophone!

Good Stuff.

The first bit made me chuckle when I thought about this:

But obviously it does a lot more. I am still waiting for an electronic mechanism on a real saxophone body that would make untold difficult fingerings much easier.

I wonder if it comes in other colours. I hope it does open other possibilities other than trilling the B and D flats because it looks a bit of a faff to adapt to. Still it does look like it takes the sweat out of Bb.

That is really quite interesting. First we had "palm keys". Now we have "hand keys". The inventor has certainly developed the technique to use those keys to full advantage. It did however remind me of the added RH key system to early Buffet models allowing low Bb, B, and C# to be played with either hand thereby permitting trills that would otherwise be impossible.

That sax sounded horrible. Not convinced by the hand keys either, I suppose you have to try it out to know if you would like it.
Meanwhile... the Schmidt sax looks like a nice bit of kit. I'm still a beginner so nothing much to unlearn!
A pity about the cost.

It seems my "joke" fell flat. Some predicted a baby "boom" due to people having to stay home, but the opposite seems to be the case---probably due to the economic insecurity the pandemic has created. In my home state of Utah a declining birth rate is probably a good thing helping education funding to catch up to the student population and reducing class sizes (unless the idiots in the legislature reduce taxes as they have a tendency to do).

Good Stuff.

I did this on a session yesterday. I never imagined I’d actually use it.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
