Pete et all tutors,

I realise this is a 'how long is a piece of string' question, but I'm curious... perhaps for self assesment/where am I going type of thing, so a real 'general/average' reply would be useful.

Question, what would you consider a good timeline/progress for new saxophone learners... ie where would you expect the average studen to be, say after a month, six months, a year... and so on.

Any thoughts?

Ken.

You were right about the peice of string.

there are so many factors:

Aptitude - some people are "natural" and pick up music or a specigic instrument very quickly - others tale longer

How much you practice - the quality of your practice (ie focussed vs noodling)

The quality or existence of a teacher OR your ability as a self teacher.

Yep, accepted Pete, but I was only looking for a rough'ish guide. I guessed that formal tutors would have a rough teaching syllabus, even if it is open for change.

I do like the word 'noodling' 🙂 I'll think of that when my mind starts to drift.

Was wondering though... does a 'specigic instrument' come in Bb or Eb ? 🙂 (only joking)

Ken
