Yep quite different - properly open. Now to throttle back on time.

Yeah the actual solo wasn't foremost in mind at that point! I'm going to try the other mouthpiece pushed on loads too to see how it feels. But mega difference. Just need to sort the intonation a bit (that C in the melody at the end is horrific.....)

My new saxophone quartet has an arrangement of "Green Dolphin Street" - no "On" for the arranger who is Pierre Marie Bonafos. It doesn't have any Latin sections and there is a long and nicely harmonised soli.

We played it this morning, with me on baritone and Alex depping on alto. Recorded on my Zoom H2e digital recorder and no added effects, just the sound of the room.

Nice! Invoking more of the feel of the original recording, but in a MUCH nicer way. Some really nice lines in there for the accompanying parts!

Nice Francisco, playing solo is always a great way to dig into these tunes! Just still try to pay attention to time even when not playing with other folk.
